* PANCHO CAMPO: “VINOBLE MUST TURN INTO A GLOBAL REFERENCE POINT FOR NOBLE, FORTIFIED AND DESSERT WINES”

A very positive overall outcome, according to the new commissioner who insists on the need to continue working on the internationalization of the Exhibition as “this is a unique Exhibition, one of a kind in the world.”
The Regional Representative for Economic Development awarded the Grand Prize of the International Competition Vinoble to PX Dulce Viejo vintage 2000, D.O. Montilla- Moriles, a wine from Alvear winery.
Jerez de la Frontera, June the 2nd, 2010 – The overall outcome of this edition of the Noble Wines Exhibition is very positive, according to the commissioner of Vinoble 2010. In his opinion, despite the current crisis, “Vinoble has managed to keep the quality standards and, somehow they have been further improved”. Going into detail, he stated that the number of wine buyers from the five continents visiting Vinoble has been quite important, highlighting those coming from the USA and Asia as these two are the most appealing groups for sherry and noble wines.
He also placed the emphasis on the excellence of the papers presented at the Exhibition and the deep satisfaction he felt when making wine tasting a popular event (at the Plaza del Arenal), “because Jerez residents and visitors have enjoyed themselves and responded wonderfully.” This is a unique Exhibition, one of a kind in the world and, efforts should be made to make it internationally known.
The commissioner of the Exhibition finally concluded, “I believe Vinoble has been a success and the coming editions what (ever) will be, will be, that is, the point of reference for noble, fortified and dessert wines.”
Then, the Regional Representative for the Economic Development of the Town Council of Jerez, Francisco Lebrero, stated, “Vinoble has managed to keep the quality and excellence standards, despite the difficult times, showing its great potential and the trust the global grape and wine-growing sector has placed on it.”
The Grand Prize of the International Competition Vinoble. Lebrero has awarded the Grand Prize of the International Competition Vinoble to PX Dulce Viejo vintage 2000, a wine from the winery Alvear, with D.O. Montilla-Moriles.
The jury, made up by specialized journalists, wine critics, sommeliers and Master of Wines holders, and chaired by Wendy Vallaster, has tasted, during these 87 days, samples submitted by a huge number of wineries. On top of the Grand Prize Vinoble, the jury has awarded gold, silver and bronze medals to the 16 wines achieving the best score.
After congratulating the prize winner, the Regional Representative made some statements about the development of Vinoble 2010, on the last day of this year’s edition. Firstly, he said that “Vinoble has managed to keep the quality and excellence standards, regardless the difficult times we are facing, proving its potential for the wine sector as well as the trust the global grape and wine-growing sector has placed on it.”
According to his opinion, making this Noble Wines Exhibition a popular event for Jerez, with wine tastings at the Plaza del Arenal, has been a great idea, thus “this has turned to be a very interesting experience with very favourable reception.” “Jerez residents and visitors had the opportunity to experience the wine culture, to confirm that sherry is a great wine that deserves a recognition, and that this culture is shared by many countries and that the Exhibition is a way to make available a wide range of wines with different flavours and aromas.” The Regional Representative for Economic Development also referred to the positive impact Vinoble has had on the hotel and restaurant sector.

Pilar Sánchez expressed her gratitude to the Regional Minister of Agriculture and Fishery, Clara Aguilera, for the Regional Government involvement in the Noble Wines Exhibition and her visit to this event.
May the 31st, 2010. During today’s visit by the Regional Minister of Agriculture and Fishery, Clara Aguilera, to the International Exhibition of Noble Wines, Vinoble 2010, the Mayor, Pilar Sánchez, has placed a lot of emphasis on the “new professional and commercial aspect of this event”, being this one of the main objectives set for this seventh edition in line with the sought-after change. As a first evaluation, the Mayor highlighted this morning the favourable acceptance and interest that the public in general have showed for the wine tastings of the Plaza del Arenal, whose first session took place yesterday evening, focused on making the Noble Wines Exhibition a widely-known event.
Pilar Sánchez expressed her appreciation to the Regional Minister of Agriculture and Fishery for the involvement of the Andalucía Regional Government as sponsors of Vinoble 2010. “This has been extremely important in order to keep up with the level of recognition, quality and excellence of Vinoble that we need to preserve”, said the Mayor. Not only that, Pilar Sánchez also thanked her for coming in person to the Exhibition because “with this visit, you will see for yourself the Exhibition grounds and find out its great impact on the city and the region, a meeting point for the best wines in the world”.
Vinoble was regarded by the Regional Minister of Agriculture and Fishery as “an internationally-recognized Exhibition, a space to promote the Andalucía wines”. In line with these comments, she mentioned that the grape and wine-growing sector of Andalucía was very well represented in the Noble Wines Exhibition, with 29 companies and 5 Controlling Boards.
Clara Aguilera added: “there is a wide range of wineries working in the right direction both, making wines and commercializing them abroad, and a new sector is emerging in the eastern provinces”. The Regional Minister underlined the significance of the wine sector in Andalucía as the local economies of several towns of the Autonomous Region benefit from this income, and therefore, the Autonomous Government of Andalucía is fully committed to prestigious Wine Exhibitions as Vinoble as a way to promoting wines.
* CANTABRIAN GASTRONOMY WILL BE PRESENT AT VINOBLE 2010 FOR FIRST TIME

Jerez de la Frontera, May the 27th, 2010 – Cantabrian gastronomy will have a special place in the VII Salón de Vinos Nobles Vinoble, a Wine Exhibition to be held between May the 30th and June the 2nd. The collaboration between Vinoble and the Regional Government of Cantabria, through its Ministry of Rural Areas, Livestock, Fishery and Biodiversity, and the Bureau for Food Quality, has yielded fruitful results, namely two actions included in the International Exhibition of Noble Wines’ this year’s program, organized by the Town Council of Jerez de la Frontera and coordinated by The Wine Academy of Spain
The first one refers to the sponsorship for the welcoming reception made by the organizing committee to the exhibitors and guests of the Exhibition in which Cantabrian typical food will be tasted: cheese with the three existing Denomination of Origin in the Region (Queso Nata de Cantabria, Picón Bejes – Tresviso and Quesucos de Liébana), Cantabrian Meat with the Protected Geographical Indication status, and other products with Control Quality Labels, such as tomatoes, Isla red peppers, sheep cheese, etc, as well as environmentally-friendly goods, such as jams, fruits and vegetables, and obviously those traditional ones, such as anchovies, tuna, orujos (brandy) and the liqueurs of Liébana. Along with these typical Cantabrian products, visitors will taste wines from four wineries: Marco de Jerez, Aecovi, González Byass, Barbadillo y Garvey. In the course of this event, visitors will have the chance to try the typical Cantabrian desserts: the sobao pasiego, with the Protected Geographical Indication and the quesada pasiega.
This collaboration also led to arranging a second activity, which belongs to the program “Armonías del Salón”, taking place in la Torre del Homenaje (keep) on the third day of the Exhibition.
In the course of the event named “Cantabrian Cheese”, the Cantabrian cheese and the noble wines available in this Exhibition for first time will be paired, which has a special meaning as their flavours and aromas are in a good harmony. On top of this, the prestigious American sommelier, David Denton, will conduct the wine tasting.
The Cantabria Regional Government is, therefore, fully committed to Vinonoble, a widely-recognized event, by getting actively involved in the most important Noble Wines Exhibition ever held in Spain, supported by the commissioner of The Wine Academy and the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, for which is also the first time in Vinoble.

The winemaker stressed the importance of making the Spanish wine industry more aware of this great problema which will only continue to affect the sector. Gramona explained the current situation of noble wines which are suffering “for their own special qualities” than other categories of wine due to the effects of climate change. “All of the Spanish wine regions are suffering because of climate change, and we are fighting every day to ensure that Gramona is doing less to worsen the problem”.
The second day of Vinoble 2010 will be marked with the guided tasting of Port wines with the participation of the Portuguese wine sector, a guest country of Vinoble 2010.

Pilar Sánchez stresses the higher quality levels of the wines present and the more commercial and gastronomical aspects of the exhibiton

Pilar Sánchez opened her speach by stressing the value of welcoming Back Vinoble 2010 which is: "a window through which the world can gaze on the most precious wines of the world".
The foirst round of thanks went to: "the work of those in the Department of Trade, Foreign Promotion, and Economic Development of The Town Hall, as well as the other municipal departments involved in the organisation. And of course, to the Andalusian and Trade Promotion Agency of Andalusia, extend, for their collaboration to enable this biennial event to be a reality, thus confirming the mutual interest of both administrations for a salon that builds prestige and international relations."
She also congratulated the Technical Direction of The Wine Academy of Spain "for their dedication in being able to open the door for the world to this Seventh International Exhibition of Noble Wines with renewed energy and with new areas of focus for this edition", said the Mayoress.
Adding to this, she broke down the strategies of this current edition: "This event marks an end to the spring in Jerez showering them with enthusiasm for many reasons: to deepen our ancient culture, a hallmark of the city, enjoy the finest pairings; of the most prestigious wines ; open a trading platform and of course by the economic impact it has on the city and that it is even reflected in the hotel reservations which will increase dramatically during these days with respect to the average numbers for this time of year."
Pilar Sánchez continued by saying: "This year we have set three goals to overcome and improve the results of the latest edition: highlight, above all else, the quality and uniqueness of the wines present in the sample which will provide greater excellence for the 'label' of Vinoble Jerez brand; enhance the aspect of dining, for which we have the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy. This prestigious organization will coordinate the presence and participation of renowned chefs who will be pairing food and wine as their main aimt. Four sessions will be conducted for the pairing, or harmonising with a national profile level of haute cuisine. For this, we have chosen an emblematic venue in the 15th Century Torre de Homenaje. The third goal we set ourselves is to promote Vinoble 2010 as a business meeting venue with the firm hope that the 65 exhibitors who show off the richest wines of the world's finest crops will serve as a showcase both for business and capitalize on their presence . In this sense I would add that we will have more than 300 specialists from a dozen countries, including buyers, specifiers and guests and has experienced a surge of Asian buyers who will attend the meeting. "
The Mayoress also added that for this Seventh Edition, "we have decided to open this professional event up to the general public by organising Public Tastings which will take place in the Plaza del Arenal. Four tastings will be carried out in total and will be lead by notable personalities from the wine sector. The idea of this is to bring us closer to potential consumers and aficionados and make them more aware of this style of wine. Finally, this year we have introduced the First International Competition of Noble Wines. The idea came form the intention of adding to the Exhibtion which would prolong the effects of this event. The competition will be awarding certificates and Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals to the fifty highest scoring wines".
Before finally opening the event, Pilar Sánchez added that "these great values of Vinoble 2010, an Exhibition which will include new additions which as well as improving the prestige of this event, will help to imrpove the international understanding and its quality in all aspects. * GASTRONOMY FROM CANTABRIA WILL BE PRESENT FOR THE FIRST TIME AT VINOBLE 2010
Jerez de la Frontera, 26th May 2010 – The Seventh edition of the Exhibition of Noble Wines Vinoble, which will take place from the 30th May until the 2nd June will now include a special section of the food from Cantabria in its programme. The collaboration between Vinoble and the Government of Cantabira through the Ministry of Rural Affairs, Livestock, Fisheries, Biodiversity and the Office of Food Quality. will have it’s products shown in two parts of this edition of The Exhibition of Noble Wines, which is organised by the Town Hall of Jerez and coordinated by The Wine Academy of Spain.
The first of these stems from the sponsorship of a Welcome Cocktail, which the organisers will offer to to exhibitors and VIP’s of the Exhibition, and in which they will be able to taste the produce of Cantabria: Cheeses from three controlled appellations (Queso Nata de Cantabria, Picón Bejes – Tresviso and Quesucos de Liébana), Meat from the delimited of Cantabria, as well as other high quality products from the region, tomatoes, Isla peppers, sheep’s cheese etc. and ecological products like marmalade, fruit, vegetables, not to mention other traditional products such as anchovies, and the orujos and liqueurs of Liébana. All of these tastings of food from Cantabria will be accompanied by the wines of the four Jerez wineries: Aecovi, González Byass, Barbadillo and Garvey. This will also be repeated for the typical desserts of the region: sobao pasiego with Protected Geographical Indication and quesada pasiega
The second part of the collaboration will take place on the third day of the Exhibition in the Torre de Homenaje under the programme information of Food and Wine Pairing.
This pairing, which will take place under the title ‘Cheeses of Cantabria’ will have a special connotation by the matching of Cantabrian cheeses with noble wines for the first time in the Exhibition; and under the control of the prestigious North American Sommelier David Denton.
In this way, the Government of Cantabria is actively placing itself in an established event such as Vinoble, actively participating in the most important event in Spain focusing of noble wines, under the coordination of the Commissioner of Vinoble and the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, also present for the first time in Vinoble

* VINOBLE 2010 WILL UNCORK A PEDRO XIMÉNEZ FROM 1910 AND WILL OPEN MORE THAN 4,000 BOTTLES
• 10,000 wine glasses, 9 exhibiting countries, and guests from 25 different nationalities are somne of the most significant figures for the seventh edition, now less than two weeks from opening its doors
Madrid, 21st May 2010 – In less than two weeks, Vinoble will begin to take shape and become once again the professional epicentre of noble wines in Southern Europe. This edition, taking place from the 30th May until the 2nd June and organised by the Town Hall of Jerez with the coordination of The Wine Academy of Spain, is a source of a huge range of interesting facts and figures.
As an example, the Alcázar of Jerez has one of the greatest treasures of this edition of Vinoble: a Pedro Ximénez from Montilla Moriles dating from 1910. Ninety five years of history have been seen by the glass in this bottle, which will be opened during one of the tastings at Vinoble. There will also be a retrospective tasting of natural sweet wines going back from 1930 up to today, where a Rivesaltes Domaine Puig Parahy from 1930 will be opened.
In total, more than 4,000 bottles of wine will be opened across the four days of Vinoble. For this amount of wine, 10,000 wine glasses and more than 150 bottle openers will be used. Continuing with interesting facts, more than 100 people will be involved in organising the event which will feature personalities among winemakers, wine professionals and marketers from more than 25 different countries all actively taking part in the Exhibition. On top of this, there will be XXX accredited journalists covering all aspects of the Vinoble 2010 Exhibition, and the 9 countries represented in the exhibition areas.
It is more than 21,000km from Jerez de la Frontera to Australia, the distance covered by the bottles of wine coming from this continent in order to get to the exhibition area of the Alcázar. It’s the greatest distance covered by those exhibiting in Jerez from the 30th May.
Another point of interest is the coming together in the same place at the same time of seven Masters of Wine, who will be present in the tasting area for The Grand Tasting in the Mezquita on the penultimate day of the Exhibition. The following wines will be tasted:
- Henriquez & Henriquez – 20 años Malmsey
- Vintage Port - Cockburns 1983
- Garvey Oloroso Añada 1989
- Disznókó Aszú 6 puttonyos 1993
- TBA - Anita & Hans Nittnaus - 2002
- Inniskillin Vidal Icewine
- Pedro Ximénez Ginés Liébana de Toro Albalá – 1910
* VINOBLE 2010 WILL SEE QUALITY WINERIES REPRESENTING 25 WINE GROWING REGIONS IN THE EXHIBITION AREA
• Kracher from Austria, Tokaj Renaissance from Hungary, The Port Wine Brotherhood, the best wineries from Santorini, Quady Winery from California, and the Sweet Bordeaux Group will all be at the Exhibition
• Vinoble 2010 will include classic wine regions as well as high-end wineries, all of whom have a great tradition in the production of fortified, dessert and natural sweet wines
Madrid, 14th of May 2010 – The Exhibition of Noble Wines Vinoble will open on the 30th May in Jerez de la Frontera, but it will be two weeks in advance, around the middle of May, that the wineries exhibiting in Vinoble 2010 will begin to make their mark at the monumental Alcázar de Jerez, the traditional venue for Vinoble, which is celebrating its seventh edition this year. Hundreds of winemakers from 25 winegrowing regions will attend the Exhibition which this year is focusing specifically on classic regions and high quality wineries.
Among these bodegas are prestigious names such as Kracher from Austria, Tokaj Renaissance from Hungary, The Port Wine Brotherhood, the best wineries from Santorini, Greece, Quady Winery from California, and the groups Sweet Bordeaux and Madeira will be in attendance at the Exhibition, along with the best Spanish wineries specialising in sweet and fortified wines, who will bring a selection of great vintages.
The range of winegrowing regions represented in the exhibitors’ zone: Jerez, Madeira, Port, Langudeoc-Rousillon (France), Bordeaux (France), Navarra, Alicante, California, Canada, Penedes, Montilla-Moriles, Condado de Huelva, Austria, Tokaji (Hungary), Alsace, The Canary Islands, Italy, Argentina, Málaga, Cava, Santorini (Greece), Valencia, Jumilla, Rioja and Ribera del Duero.
In this edition of Vinoble 2010, the organisers have expressed a desire to include wineries whose goals of establishing commercial relationships are more important than merely showing off their winery in this prestigious Exhibition. In this way, Vinoble 2010 is reaching out to a select group of wineries with a tradition for producing wines and whose regions are already consolidated and well known to the sector.
“We have been very strict and firm on the theme of discounts for wineries to come to this year’s Exhibition. We are pleased with the level of wines which will be present, and believe that it is a great sample of the wine sector producing sweet and fortified wines”, explains the Commissioner of Vinoble 2010, Pancho Campo MW. The quality that will be on display from the 30th May until the 2nd June in Jerez de la Frontera can be explained by the reduction in the number of guests and buyers: “I am convinced that this edition of Vinoble will mark a change for the focus of the Exhibition. Commercial fairs don’t have to be glamorous shop windows, the exhibitors should see a return on their investment and this is our new objective”, argues Campo.
Within the organising committee of Vinoble 2010 represented by Pancho Campo MW and The Wine Academy of Spain, Paulina Campo is the person responsible for the exhibitor’s zone at Vinoble which will see a reduction in the number of tables, largely caused by the current economic crisis and the adjustment of many winemakers. This reduction won’t have any detrimental effect on the visitors to the Exhibition. In fact, the quality will be better than anterior editions thanks to the budget adjustment on account of the new organisers and sponsorships. “The crisis has affected almost every trade fair around the world with the exception of Asia. We have seen this situation reflected in the difficulties found in selling, especially in that forms of payment have to be much more flexible. Also, it takes longer for the wineries to confirm their attendance, and there are some wineries which are unable to come as they are going through tough times”, explains the Commissioner and Master of Wine.
Almost all of the wines on display at Vinoble 2010 come from wineries who dedicate 90% of their production to sweet, fortified and dessert wines of a high quality. Some of these wineries do also produce a small quantity of still or sparkling wines.
* VINOBLE 2010 WILL COUNT ON PUBLIC TASTINGS FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS IN THE ARENAL SQUARE
About 400 people will have the opportunity to learn the art of wine tasting during the four days of the Exhibition
Madrid, 12th of May 2010 – The International Exhibition of Noble Wines Vinoble 2010 will open the doors of the Fortress of Jerez de la Frontera with social activities that will bring residents and visitors closer to the atmosphere of this prestigious professional Exhibition of wines, whose seventh edition will take place from the 30th of May until the 2nd of June in this town, and that are organized by the Jerez Consistory. Vinoble 2010 will count on four wine tastings, one for each day of the Exhibition, for the general public that will come to the fairground.
These tastings will take place in the Plaza del Arenal with a capacity of 100 people from the general public, and will be led by personalities from the wine sector. In total, about 400 people can participate in this Exhibition thanks to these tastings which aim to teach the techniques of wine tasting and to make Noble Wines that will be exhibited inside the Alcázar de Jerez better known.
‘This kind of meetings capture the attention of both the national and the international public and it is really important right now as the consumption of wine is decreasing year by year’, explains the Commissioner of this edition – Pancho Campo MW. These public tastings in Vinoble 2010 favour a charming meeting between the end consumer and the wine-producers themselves, opening this way another, more direct commercial door, that will stimulate both the consumption and the interest for the wine.
Public tastings in Vinoble 2010 are not only one of the main news of the Exhibition, but also of all the wine fairs that are organized in Spain at the moment: ‘In my opinion it is fundamental that the professional fairs open their doors to the general public. Little by little we have to understand that increasing the presence of the general public by reasonable tickets prices must be a mid-term aim. One of the greatest faults of the European fairs, compared to those in America, is the fact that in the United States the general public can easily access this kind of professional event and that is what will have direct repercussions on the end consumption’, argues Campo.
Under these premises, Vinoble 2010 decided to open this new interaction frame with the residents by means of public tastings set on the four days of the Exhibition: ‘The tastings of the Arenal Square aim to create, little by little, a complicity connection between the wine sector and the public’. The tastings are programmed during the morning of every day of the Exhibition, and through them to expose the public to a careful selection of fortified, dessert and natural sweet wines.
* REGISTRATION HAS OPENED FOR THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF NOBLE WINES 2010
• It is the first time that The Exhibition has included a competition which will award Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to the fifty highest scoring wines
• Noble wines from all over the world can register their entries up until the 15th of May
Madrid, 5th May 2010 – One of the new additions to the International Exhibition of Noble Wines Vinoble 2010 which takes place from the 30th May until the 2nd June in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) is the creation for this seventh edition, of The First International Competition of Noble Wines. The entries will also be categorised by type of wine according to grape variety and the way the wine is made. The wines will be grouped into the following categories: ‘Dry Fortified Wines’, ‘Sweet Fortified Wines’, ‘Vins Doux Naturels’, ‘Naturally Sweet Wines’, ‘Wines with Biological Ageing’, and ‘Other Noble Wines’.
Registration for entries will close on the 15th May, with the competition tasting taking place on the two middle days of Vinoble 2010: Monday 31st May and Tuesday 1st June.
* JOSEP ROCA: “THROUGH OUR FUSION CUISINE WE ARE GOING TO SHOW HOW NOBLE WINES ARE PERFECT ACOMPANIAMENTS TO ANY STYLE OF DISH”

The Celler de Can Roca holds three Michelin stars and will be responsible for offering pairings based on tapas dishes with a range of fortified wines at this years’ Vinoble
Madrid, 27th April 2010 – The International Exhibition of Noble Wines Vinoble 2010 is beginning to release details ahead of its upcoming celebration from the 30th May until the 2nd June in Jerez de la Frontera. One of the defined objectives of this seventh edition is the new impetus of food and wine pairings, which will be run by renowned chefs such as Josep Roca who, with his brother Jordi runs the successful restaurant Celler de Can Roca in Girona. This establishment participating in Vinoble 2010 holds three prestigious Michelin stars and are bringing a concrete objective: “With our fusion cuisine we are going to show that noble wines are perfect to accompany any dish”, explains Josep Roca, the owner.
“We want to break down the existing barrier surrounding fortified wines, which although well know, are little consumed”, Roca argues. Roca will arrive in Jerez with his team of chefs to offer gastronomic pairings from Sunday 30th May. “Our pairing will be a practical workshop of tasting national Manzanilla and Oloroso Sherries with other well known international wines. We have chosen tapas because we are in Andalusia and the contrast between the complexity and delicacy of these little “big” dishes with the aroma of fortified wines is something that greatly interests us”, he adds.
Vinoble 2010, organised by the Town Hall of Jerez and coordinated by its commissioner Pancho Campo MW, will present a new addition with respect to the previous edition in 2008 with the introduction of the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy to direct the four gastronomic sessions which will take place in the Keep, one of the most emblematic rooms of the Alcázar of Jerez.
There will be four pairings in total, one on each day of the exhibition at 7pm. In each one of these, a range of foods will be presented, followed by the best wines to accompany them. “From the Celler de Can Roca, we are going to demonstrate the complicity of this type of wine and show its importance in our restaurant”, said Roca, who is a frequent visitor of the exhibition because “it has captivated us for many years thanks to its quality and the great atmosphere that it brings to the city”.
Given that in 2008’s edition, Vinoble had three pairings based on international cuisine, the next edition will show off one more. The pairings of this current edition are characterised by a more national cuisine and a level of high cuisine. The four programmed sessions are:
1. Celler de Can Roca, Run by the Roca brothers and awarded three Michelin stars. Josep and Jordi Roca combine tradition, memory and culinary intelligence from their prestigious restaurant in Girona.
2. Food from Cantabria. This tasting will be led by David Denton, a well known North American Sommelier who was also in charge of the historic Robert Parker tasting which took place in Winefuture ’09.
3. Chefs and Sommeliers from Denmark, winners of the Copa Jerez. Showing off the international flair in this session, with Scandinavian food as the focal point.
4. Food from Jerez, With the help of young talent from the Hospitality School in Jerez to show off the most traditional recipes from Andalusia and Jerez.
About the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy
Following the signing of an agreement between the Mayor of Jerez, Pilar Sánchez, and the President of the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, Rafael Ansón at the beginning of the current year, the gastronomic institute the Spanish Academy of Gastronomy agreed to schedule, coordinate and develop the gastronomic activities which will take place at this years’ Exhibition. The RAEG is a non profit organisation which was founded in 1980. Their work is to investigate and make people aware of the various aspects of Spanish cuisine, both at home and abroad. Always striving for a cultural perspective, the RAEG is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary together with the start of its relationship with the Exhibition of Noble Wines.
* MORE THAN 300 BUYERS FROM TWENTY COUNTRIES WILL ATTEND VINOBLE 2010

Eric Salomon, Leonardo Locascio, Nick Room and Jorge Ordóñez among others, will attend the world congress of Noble Wines, which this year will see an increase in the number of buyers from Asia such as China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea
Madrid, 15 April 2010 – The establishment of the Exhibition of Noble Wines as a forum for buyers from all over the world started in 2008, and will continue in this next edition in 2010 with the participation of more than 300 specialists who will see a marked difference with regards to the commercial side of this event. Improving the commercial side of Vinoble is only one of the changes to be seen in its seventh edition which will take place from the 30th May until the 2nd June in Jerez de la Frontera, organised by the Town Hall of Jerez itself and under the guidance of The Wine Academy.
One of the main additions to this edition in comparison to those of the past is the increase in the number of Asian buyers who will be attending Vinoble 2010. Up to now, eight buyers from China, three from Japan, two from Taiwan and another two from South Korea have all been confirmed. Special mention must go to Xinlei Pan of Noah Wines, a company with more than 30 years experience selling Californian wines or to Mr. Nakayama, president of the Sanyo Marunaka Group, who will be representing the import company Meidi Ya.
Of the 300 guests grouped under the commercial side of Vinoble, there are many names and companies worth mentioning that will attend the Exhibition with the aim of getting more information on the fortified, sweet and liquor wines of this event. With this in mind, the attendance of Eric Salomon, of Spanish Wine Cellars (USA); Leonardo Locascio, of Winebow (USA); Nick Room, of Waitrose (UK); Robert Boneau, President of Global Wine & Spirits (Canada); Colin Gent, MW and member of the prestigious chain Europvin (France) who will be accompanied by another eight buyers from various countries; Michel Remondat, Director of Vitisphere (France); the fore mentioned Xinlei Pan of Noah Wines (China); Bob Paulinski, of Winn Dixie Stores (USA); Oleimports (USA); and Jorge Ordñex & Co, among others have all been confirmed.
By nationalities, buyers and industry leaders will be coming from about twenty countries such as USA, UK, as well as Germany, Canada, China, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Sweden.
This edition of Vinoble continues to emphasize the importance of the business side of the exhibition through the use of exhibitor tables, and the confluence of top level wine cellars during the four days of the Fair will be the perfect setting for the encounter between merchants, wine producers, consumers and institutions of the wine sector. In short, some 300 buyers will be brought together at the invitation of the Exhibition of Noble Wines, contributed by the Andalucian Agency for Overseas Promotion (Extenda), arranged by co organisers The Wine Academy and those individuals with a particular interest.

* QUALITY AND EXCLUSIVITY WILL BE WHAT MARKS VINOBLE 2010, WITH THIS EDITION PROMOTING FORMATIVE AND COMMERCIAL ASPECTS

Today, the Mayor presented the Exhibition of Noble Wines during the tasting ‘Jewels of Jerez’ that took place in Lavinia, Madrid, and was attended by more than fifty experts and press reporters
An agreement was also signed for the Spanish Academy of Gastronomy to coordinate gastronomic events during Vinoble 2010
20th January 2010. The Spanish headquarters of the prestigious wine merchants, Lavinia Madrid, today hosted the presentation of Vinoble 2010 with the attendance of the Mayor, Pilar Sánchez; the commissioner of the event, Pancho Campo; 60 of the country’s leading wine experts, and also wine journalists.
In an opening speech, the Mayor explained the new additions to the seventh edition: "this next edition of Vinoble will include an important and necessary change in relation to what has come before. We thought it necessary to give the fair a new impetus for it to gain national and international recognition in certain aspects that we deemed necessary to reinforce”, adding that “Vinoble will continue to maintain its quality and exclusivity in its content as well as its organisation and development, without losing its place as one of the most important events showcasing noble wines in the world”.
Pilar Sánchez detailed that "with the help of the Royal Academy of Spanish Gastronomy, we are promoting the gastronomic aspect. The Royal Academy is a well known institution and will prove to be a great ally in improving the quality of pairing food and wine. We are also looking to maintain or increase the quality of the wines present, possibly to the detriment of individual countries, as what we are looking for are great wines with character that represent a style and not a country. We are also promoting a greater commercial involvement of the fair, without loosing its traditional feel. That’s to say, the exhibitors will find Vinoble to be not only a magnificent stage to show off their wines, but also a place to close business deals”.
Likewise, the formative side of the exhibition will be getting a boost from conferences and panel sessions with themes centred on the wine trade, and also with the announcement for the first time of the First International Competition of Noble Wines. The Mayor also referred to the idea of taking Vinoble to the streets by organising tastings in emblematic parts of the city, thus maintaining the exhibition itself for the professionals.
The fore-mentioned tasting took place under the name ‘Jewels of Jerez’ and the following wines were served: Amontillado Jalifa de Williams & Humbert (V.O.S.); Palo Cortado de bodegas Tradición (V.O.R.S.); Palo Cortado Añada de González Byass 1978; Oloroso Harveys (V.O.R.S.); Moscatel Toneles de Valdespino, and Pedro Ximénez Venerable (V.O.R.S). The closing presentation was given by Jesús Rebollo, Lavinia’s Director of International Marketing, who thanked the Town Hall of Jerez for giving this presentation.
Among the guests invited were famous names such as José Peñín, Federico Oldenburg and Antonio Casado. Sommeliers from some of Madrid’s most prestigious restaurants were also in attendance: Mario García from El Piñera, Silvia García from Kabuki, Rosa Montaño from Restaurante Nicolás and Daniel Poveda from Restaurante Arola.
An agreement signed
At the end of the tasting, the Mayor and the President of the Academy of Spanish Gastronomy, Rafael Ansón Oliart, signed an agreement which lends itself to one of the new additions to the next edition of Vinoble. Through this agreement, the Academy of Spanish Gastronomy will plan, coordinate and develop the gastronomic activities that will happen in unison with the exhibition. The idea is that the Academy will put forward well known and prestigious chefs to give a gastronomic demonstration on three of the four days of the exhibition, choosing themselves, with the agreement of the organisation, wines to pair with the dishes they produce. Likewise, they will choose well known chefs to give a food and wine pairing on two of the four days of the exhibition.
In both cases, as a compliment to the events taking place inside the exhibition, some of the chefs will be able to take to the streets and give paired tastings to members of the public in a prominent city space. The Town Hall will include the Academy of Spanish Gastronomy as an organising entity that will take part in communications regarding the exhibition.

Vinoble 2010
The International Fair of Noble Wines, better known as Vinoble, is a space dedicated exclusively to sweet, dessert and fortified wines, and whose next edition will be held from 30th May to 2nd June this year. This event, present since 1998, takes place biannually and is organized by the City Council of Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz). In the 2008 edition, 400 wineries were present and it was attended by over 1,000 people of up to twenty different nationalities with the aim of achieving a full disclosure of such wines.
On this occasion, Vinoble 2010 will incorporate a significant shift compared to previous editions because of a new impetus from the Town Council to achieve greater national and international excellence. Despite this change, the exhibition will still ensure the quality and exclusivity of both its content and its organisation and development, retaining the unique title of Vinoble as one of the most important events of noble wines in the world. A good proof of this is the recent addition of the Real Academia de Gastronomía Española (Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy) improving the culinary aspect, and also the increase in the quality of the wines present, the promotion of the commercial side of the fair and also strengthening the learning aspect through conferences and round tables to name only few of the aspects that confer to this edition a special character.
The Wine Academy of Spain
The Wine Academy of Spain is a private organization, founded in 2003 by Pancho Campo MW, the first and only Spanish Master of Wine. Its activities focus on the education of wine professionals and amateurs; the international promotion of Spanish wine through the Spanish Wine Education Program; the promotion of Spain as a wine tourism destination; the analysis of the impact of climate change on this industry; and educational trips of wine regions, in collaboration with the University of California Davis, organizing trips and seminars on advances in viticulture, oenology and marketing. It is also an approved centre in Spain for teaching the courses of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), the of the UK's leading organization based in training in the wine industry and has organized the World Congress on Climate Change and Wine, among other events.
* Mayoress' Greeting

Vinoble 2010 arrives to a new edition in order to maintain the historic quality of this event that it is a must among the specialized wine fairs at national and international levels.
This year Vinoble will go one step further with changes that seek to increase the level of excellence and at the same time optimize the best use of it resources.
This new phase includes management approaches and innovative organization whose leadership is assumed by a technical team of great prestige which ensures the continuity of the great journey that this Event has taken since its first edition.
From the Municipal Government, we have been careful to design changes for the Fair in order to win in all its different aspects. One of them is the commercial, because it is intended that Vinoble becomes a place for business. It is also a goal to achieve that exhibitor take advantage of their presence in the fair, not only making their products known but also having the potential to open new trade routes.
The important culinary aspect of the Event is another feature with new expectations.
With the aim to achieve a greater impact, in this edition we will count with the presence of prestigious chefs whom will have the marriage of wine and cuisine as the central argument.
Definitely, we are faced to one Vinoble that without losing their traditional levels wants to get the best and greater business levels and a better involvement of the host city.
In this sense, we will develop efforts to open it to Jerez, making parallel activities to share with citizens and visitors the great wine festival which is the celebration of this event.
Finally everything is ready for Vinoble 2010 to be both: new and traditional, with the magnificent of the Alcázar de Jerez site as the epicenter of an Event that continues making progress in the quality of its contents and becoming more profitable for all the participants.
