Presentation of Vinoble 2018 at the Spanish Embassy London

Monday February 28th, in the presence of the Spanish Ambassador, Don Carlos Bastarreche, and the minister of Agriculture Fishing and Rural Development of the Junta de Andalucía, Don Rodrigo Sánchez Haro, the presentation took place to the UK media and wine trade of the tenth edition of the International Noble Wines Fair, Vinoble, which will be celebrated in Jerez between the 3rd and 5th of June.

The City Council of Jerez, the organiser of Vinoble, was represented by Don César Saldaña, Director General of the Consejo Regulador for Sherry and a member of the Vinoble advisory committee, who brought a message from the Mayor, Doña Maria del Carmen Sánchez inviting all members of the British wine trade present at the embassy to come to Jerez to attend this important professional forum.

Present along with the representative of the Sherry and Manzanilla wines were representatives of all the other relevant Consejos Reguladores of Andalucía: Montilla-Moriles, Málaga and Condado de Huelva,
Patricia de la Puerta, Secretary General Fedejerez and Vinoble Committee member, as well as a number of important representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, including the Deputy Minister, Ricardo Domínguez García-Baquero and the Director General of Agro-alimentary Industries, Doña Rosa Ríos.

The event took place in the main hall of the Spanish Embassy; a notable building located in the heart of the British capital, and after the presentation, those invited proceeded to the impressive dining room to enjoy a tasting of exceptional wines led by Master of Wine Sarah Jane Evans. Tasters had the opportunity to try seven different wines from the various regions which will be present at Vinoble: five from the various Denominations of Origin of Andalucía and two from the prestigious regions of Sauternes in France and Tokaj in Hungary.

Once Sarah Jane Evans had completed the tasting, the large company of British journalists and professionals returned to the main hall to partake of a cocktail provided by the restaurateur José Pizarro, well-known in London for his various establishments which have a marked Spanish feel. Representatives from the Denomination of Origin Jamón de Jabugo were also there to present their prestigious Iberian ham accompanied by various wines from the Denomination of Origin Jerez.

The event served as an introduction to the British wine trade of Vinoble 2018 in the best possible atmosphere with important institutional support and the presence of notable wine trade figures and the specialist press. There can be no doubt that the tenth edition of Vinoble will once again bring together at the Alcázar of Jerez the very best from the world of sweet and fortified wines, being a unique event in the panorama of international wine production.
